As the London hub for BFI NETWORK, it supports emerging filmmakers to create acclaimed short films and begin developing their first features. Through initiatives such as the Equal Access Network, the organisation works to ensure fair representation and career opportunities across the city’s screen industries, from writers and directors to vital “below the line” crew. Its FLAMIN Productions commissions have brought innovative moving image work to prestigious festivals in Berlin, Venice, Locarno, and beyond, while the annual Jarman Award has established itself as one of the UK’s leading prizes for cutting-edge moving image artists. 

Since 2018, Film London has supported hundreds of filmmakers whose work spans commercial success, international recognition, and social and environmental impact. Film London also invests heavily in growing and sustaining the capital’s vibrant film culture. Through Film Hub London—a network of over 200 cinemas, pop-ups, and film clubs—it provides training, funding, and programming support to help venues engage audiences and celebrate cinema from all over the world. The organisation manages London’s Screen Archives, preserving and sharing historic footage of the city, and participates in the Green Screen initiative to reduce the environmental impact of film and TV production. Whether facilitating blockbuster shoots, funding independent projects, or bringing diverse stories to local communities, Film London operates at every level of the industry to ensure the capital remains a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable centre for global screen culture.
